Insurance Company Claim Help

Florida's and New Jersey's largest property insurers. Call Homeland before you call yours.

Short answer: the insurance company that owes your claim is the one named on your declarations page, which is not always the brand you bought. Frontline policies are written by First Protective, Allstate’s Florida policies by Castle Key, and many former Safepoint policies are now with Manatee Insurance Exchange. Below are the largest property insurers in Florida and New Jersey, with a guide to each one: who they are, what they insure, your deadlines and where their claims most often need help.

Last reviewed: October 2026

Before you call the insurance company, call Homeland. The first report of a loss frames the whole claim. We review your policy, document the damage and give the insurance company written notice of the claim for you. Florida (305) 783-3777 · New Jersey (732) 517-3777 · Se habla español.

Florida’s largest residential insurers

At July 31, 2026, these were the 15 largest residential property insurers in Florida by policies in force, according to the Office of Insurance Regulation’s Monthly Market Intelligence Report. The figures cover homeowners, condo unit, rental dwelling, mobile home, renters and commercial residential policies written by companies that report to OIR.

Condo associations and commercial property

Commercial property in Florida is mostly insured outside the standard market. In 2025, commercial property was the largest surplus lines coverage in Florida: $6.2 billion in premium across 299,531 policies, according to the Florida Surplus Lines Service Office. Surplus lines policies follow different rules and are not protected by FIGA if the insurer fails; see Lloyd’s and surplus lines policies.

Among insurers that report to OIR, American Coastal, Heritage, First Protective and Citizens wrote the most condominium association policies at July 31, 2026.

Citizens condo and commercial policies: under SB 1028, signed in June 2026, Citizens must set up a clearinghouse by January 1, 2027 to move condo and commercial policies to private insurers; according to news reports, a policy must move when a qualifying private offer is within 15% of the Citizens rate. If your association’s policy moves, compare the deductibles and exclusions before the old policy ends.

New Jersey

In New Jersey, State Farm, NJM and Allstate wrote the most homeowners policies at December 31, 2025, according to the Department of Banking and Insurance. New Jersey’s claim-handling rules apply to every insurer licensed there.

The insurer begins investigating within 10 working days of receiving notice of the claim (N.J.A.C. 11:2-17.7(a)).
It pays a first-party claim within 30 calendar days of receiving properly executed proofs of loss; if it needs more time, it must tell you in writing why, and update you every 45 days (N.J.A.C. 11:2-17.7(c) and (e)).
Your policy sets the deadline to give notice of the loss and to sue, so call us promptly; we read the conditions section and give notice in time.

Your deadlines in Florida

Notice of the claim must be given within 1 year of the date of loss for a new or reopened claim, and within 18 months for a supplemental claim (Fla. Stat. §627.70132). We give that notice for you.
The insurer acknowledges your claim within 7 days, sends you its adjuster’s detailed estimate within 7 days after the adjuster prepares it, and pays or denies within 60 days of notice unless factors beyond its control intervene (Fla. Stat. §627.70131).
If you disagree on the amount, your options include re-documenting and negotiating, the appraisal clause in your policy, and free mediation through the Florida Department of Financial Services. See every option, compared.

These deadlines apply to admitted insurers. Surplus lines policies, such as those written by underwriters at Lloyd’s, may follow different rules; see the Lloyd’s guide.

How Homeland helps with your insurance company claim

We represent you, not the insurance company. We read your policy, document the loss, prepare a line-item estimate, and handle the claim with insurance company’s adjusters from start to finish, in English or Spanish. If insurance company has already paid or denied, upload the letter or estimate to Claim Review for a free first read.
