American Coastal in Florida, by the numbers

American Coastal reported 4,495 Florida commercial residential policies at July 31, 2026, ranking #79 among the 163 companies in OIR’s July 2026 report by policy count; 4,202 of them were condominium association policies. Before you call American Coastal

Call us first. We read your policy, then report the claim to American Coastal in writing, with the facts and photos that support it.
Before anything is thrown out, photograph and video every room, the roof and the outside, and keep damaged items. Make only the repairs needed to stop more damage, and keep every receipt.
Talk to us before you give a statement or sign anything, whether it comes from the insurance company or a contractor.
We get the full policy, not just the declarations page, because the endorsements and exclusions decide the claim.

Your deadlines and American Coastal’s, in Florida

Notice of the claim must be given within 1 year of the date of loss for a new or reopened claim, and within 18 months for a supplemental claim (Fla. Stat. §627.70132). We give that notice for you.
The insurer acknowledges your claim within 7 days, sends you its adjuster’s detailed estimate within 7 days after the adjuster prepares it, and pays or denies within 60 days of notice unless factors beyond its control intervene (Fla. Stat. §627.70131).
If you disagree on the amount, your options include re-documenting and negotiating, the appraisal clause in your policy, and free mediation through the Florida Department of Financial Services. See every option, compared.

What makes an association claim different

The hurricane deductible on a master policy is often a percentage of the building value, which can mean a large amount the association pays before the insurer does.
The master policy and the unit owners’ HO-6 policies split the building: Florida’s condo law (§718.111(11)) sets what the association must insure. See Florida condo association insurance requirements.
Common-area water damage and who pays for it: see association vs. unit owner.
Special assessments can follow an underpaid claim: see special assessments after a claim.
