Twenty Years of Property Claims, and the Experts Each Loss Needs
Homeland Public Adjusters is a licensed public adjusting firm in Florida (agency license W818638) and New Jersey (firm license 3003982360) with 20 years in the industry (since 2006). We work only for the policyholder, never for an insurance company, in English or Spanish.
Commercial and specialty claims rarely turn on one estimate. They turn on the policy’s separate coverage parts, the experts who can prove each one and the records behind the numbers. Homeland works with a network of experts in Florida and New Jersey ready to take on any loss: engineers, forensic accountants, marine surveyors, contractors and other specialists.
Commercial and Specialty Claims We Handle
What Makes a Commercial Claim Different
Several coverages in one claim
Building, business personal property, business income, extra expense, ordinance or law and endorsements each have their own limit, deductible and proof. Each one has to be claimed.
Experts on both sides
Insurers send engineers, accountants and consultants. The claim is answered with qualified experts of your own.
Deductibles and coinsurance
Percentage hurricane deductibles, per-building schedules and coinsurance clauses can change the payment by large amounts, so they are checked against the policy and the values.
Florida deadlines apply to businesses too
Florida’s 1-year notice deadline for new claims and 18 months for supplemental claims apply to commercial property policies too (Fla. Stat. §627.70132).
How Homeland Handles It

- We document and value every part. We inspect, measure and write our own estimate, and bring in the experts each coverage needs.

Can a public adjuster handle a commercial claim?
Yes. In Florida, a licensed public adjuster may represent the insured on a claim for loss or damage covered by an insurance contract, residential or commercial. In New Jersey, a licensed public adjuster represents the insured on property insurance claims, including inland and ocean marine. Homeland is licensed in both states.
Should I call my agent or the insurance company first?
Call Homeland first. We report the claim for you, on time, and make sure the first description of the loss and the first documents the insurer sees are complete.
Is DFS mediation available for my business claim?
Not for purely commercial coverages. Florida’s DFS mediation program is for personal lines and commercial residential policies, such as condo associations and apartment buildings (Fla. Stat. 627.7015).
