Am I covered for this?

Homeland Public Adjusters · Last reviewed: October 2026
Short answer: It depends on your policy's wording: what perils it covers, what it excludes, your deductibles and any sublimits or endorsements. No one can answer honestly without reading it. Policy Scan shows you what your policy says and where the gaps are, in plain English, before you need it.
The four things that decide coverage
- The cause: most homeowners policies cover sudden, accidental damage and exclude things like flood, wear and tear and long-term leakage. The same stain on a ceiling can be covered or excluded depending on what caused it.
- The exclusions and endorsements: an endorsement can add coverage or take it away, like a roof payment schedule or a cap on non-weather water damage.
- The deductibles: Florida policies often have a separate hurricane deductible, usually a percentage of the dwelling limit. How hurricane deductibles work.
- The limits and sublimits: mold, water and other categories may be capped below your dwelling limit.
Find out before you need to
Policy Scan reads your declarations page and gives you a plain-English summary: your limits, every deductible in dollars and the endorsements that cut claim payments. It shows you what the policy says; it doesn't make a coverage decision. It's also built into the free Adjuster Advantage app, along with a hurricane tracker and home inventory.
