- The remnants of Hurricane Ida dropped nearly 11 inches of rain on North Bergen on September 1–2, 2021, according to the township's Department of Public Works. Mayor Nick Sacco said the storm "caused significant property damage" and "displaced people from their homes," and police handled about 200 storm-related calls while crews removed abandoned vehicles and responded to collapsed structures and roadways.
- On September 10, 2021, FEMA amended the Ida major disaster declaration (FEMA-4614-DR) to add Hudson County for Individual and Public Assistance, after Sacco and the North Bergen commissioners joined the call for the designation, saying "North Bergen was hit hard by this storm."
- During Superstorm Sandy in October 2012, the State of New Jersey's Hazard Mitigation Plan records massive power outages in North Bergen and its Hudson waterfront neighbors, and Palisades Medical Center in North Bergen evacuated its patients the morning of October 30 after water damaged its generator, Fox News reported.
