Before you call Florida Peninsula or Edison

Call us first. We read your policy, then report the claim to Florida Peninsula or Edison in writing, with the facts and photos that support it.
Before anything is thrown out, photograph and video every room, the roof and the outside, and keep damaged items. Make only the repairs needed to stop more damage, and keep every receipt.
Talk to us before you give a statement or sign anything, whether it comes from the insurance company or a contractor.
We get the full policy, not just the declarations page, because the endorsements and exclusions decide the claim.

Your deadlines and the insurer’s, in Florida

Notice of the claim must be given within 1 year of the date of loss for a new or reopened claim, and within 18 months for a supplemental claim (Fla. Stat. §627.70132). We give that notice for you.
The insurer acknowledges your claim within 7 days, sends you its adjuster’s detailed estimate within 7 days after the adjuster prepares it, and pays or denies within 60 days of notice unless factors beyond its control intervene (Fla. Stat. §627.70131).
If you disagree on the amount, your options include re-documenting and negotiating, the appraisal clause in your policy, and free mediation through the Florida Department of Financial Services. See every option, compared.

Where Florida Peninsula and Edison claims most often need help

Water is where many Florida Peninsula and Edison claims start: a supply line, a water heater or a slab leak. Water claims often turn on how fast the leak was reported and on any water-damage sublimit in the policy; see the $10,000 water damage sublimit. Florida Peninsula also writes many rental dwelling (DP) policies, and Edison many condo unit (HO-6) policies; see landlord claims and master policy vs. HO-6.

Rates: Windward Risk Managers announced in June 2026 that Florida’s Office of Insurance Regulation approved rate decreases of 10% for Edison HO-3 homeowners policies, 10.5% for Edison HO-6 condo policies and 0.9% for Florida Peninsula DP-3 dwelling policies, effective July 1, 2026 for new business and July 15, 2026 for renewals.
